5mm LDR (Light Dependent Resistor)

Product Overview

The 5mm LDR is a passive component that acts as a variable resistor. In total darkness, its resistance is very high (Megaohms), and as light intensity increases, the resistance drops significantly (down to a few hundred Ohms). This linear reaction to light makes it incredibly easy to interface with Arduino analog pins using a simple voltage divider circuit.

How to Use & Connections

• Analog Sensing: Connect one leg to VCC and the other to an Analog Input pin, with a 10K resistor pulled to Ground (GND).

• Sensitivity: It can detect everything from subtle shadows to direct sunlight.

• Orientation: The 5mm head should be pointed toward the light source for the most accurate readings.
