Product Description
An active infrared obstacle avoidance sensor module with an adjustable detection range, ideal for distance monitoring and robotic tracking in Arduino and ESP32 projects. This compact module features an onboard infrared transmitter and receiver pair that emits a localized beam; when an obstacle interrupts this beam, the light reflects back into the receiver, pulling the digital output pin low. It includes an onboard multi-turn potentiometer trimmer that allows developers to fine-tune the detection sensitivity to perfectly match surrounding environmental light conditions. Engineered with a simple layout, it eliminates complex setup procedures, enabling students and engineers to rapidly deploy non-contact proximity detection on mobile platforms.
Pinout / Layout Connections
The module breaks out its tracking interface via a straightforward male header connection:
VCC Pin: Connects to the +3.3V to +5V DC positive power supply line.
GND Pin: Connects to the common ground (0V) reference.
OUT Pin: The digital output signal terminal. It outputs a HIGH logic level during clear paths and switches to a LOW logic level when an obstacle is detected.

Features:
- Easy to assemble and use
- Onboard detection indication
- The effective distance range of 2cm to 80cm
- A preset knob to fine-tune the distance range
- If there is an obstacle, the indicator lights on the circuit board.
Applications
Obstacle Avoidance Robots: Perfect for smart automated rovers, maze-solving vehicles, and wheeled robotics platforms needing real-time wall detection.
Line Production Counters: Excellent for counting objects moving across automated assembly lines or sensing cup placement mechanisms.
Touchless Smart Switches: Ideal for low-profile proximity triggers, automated sanitary equipment, and non-contact limit switches.
Compatibility
The IR Obstacle Avoidance Sensor operates smoothly across variable digital logic levels, making it fully compatible with:
Arduino Board Series (Uno, Mega, Nano, Pro Micro)
ESP32 and ESP8266 boards (Compatible with native 3.3V digital input lines)
Raspberry Pi and Raspberry Pi Pico
Standard 5V/3.3V Microcontrollers
