Product Overview

The A4988 is a complete microstepping motor driver with a built-in translator for easy operation. It allows you to control a bipolar stepper motor using only two pins from your controller: one for controlling the step direction and the other for the steps. This module is the “gold standard” for DIY 3D printers, CNC machines, and robotic arms.

Arduino Wiring & Connections

Control NEMA 17 Stepper Motor With A4988 Driver and Arduino - Visuino - Visual Development for Arduino

  • VMOT / GND: External Power (8V – 35V) for the motor.

  • VDD / GND: Arduino 5V / GND for logic.

  • STEP: Arduino Digital Pin (controls speed).

  • DIR: Arduino Digital Pin (controls direction).

  • 1A, 1B, 2A, 2B: Connect to Stepper Motor coils.

  • ENABLE: Connect to GND to turn the driver on.
