Description

Arduino Due | 32-Bit ARM Cortex-M3

Product Overview

The Arduino Due from Pro Tronix marks the transition from 8-bit to 32-bit professional computing. Based on the Atmel SAM3X8E ARM Cortex-M3 CPU, it offers a massive performance boost over the Mega 2560, making it ideal for math-intensive applications and multitasking.

Its 84MHz clock speed and 96KB of SRAM allow it to handle complex algorithms and real-time operations that would overwhelm a standard Arduino. It features 54 digital pins (the same footprint as the Mega), but with the added precision of two 12-bit DACs for true analog output and 12-bit ADC resolution for incredibly fine sensor readings. Additionally, it includes a Native USB port that can act as a USB Host, allowing you to connect peripherals like mice, keyboards, or even smartphones directly to your project.

Key Features

  • 32-Bit Power: Processes 4-byte wide data in a single clock cycle, significantly outperforming 8-bit microcontrollers.

  • Dual USB Ports: Features a dedicated programming port for stable uploads and a native port that supports USB On-The-Go (OTG).

  • True Analog Output: The two 12-bit DACs allow you to generate high-quality audio or precise control voltages without PWM filtering.

  • DMA Controller: Includes a Direct Memory Access controller that speeds up memory-intensive tasks by offloading them from the CPU.

  • CAN Bus Ready: Built-in support for the Controller Area Network (CAN) protocol, essential for automotive and industrial networking.

Common Applications

  • High-End Robotics: Controlling multi-axis arms or autonomous rovers that require fast sensor-fusion calculations.

  • 3D Printing & CNC: Processing G-code and driving high-speed stepper motor signals with high precision.

  • Digital Signal Processing (DSP): Filtering audio or analyzing high-speed analog signals in real-time.

  • Industrial Control: Utilizing the CAN bus and multiple UARTs to bridge various industrial machines and sensors.

⚠️ Critical Voltage Warning: The Arduino Due operates at 3.3V. Applying 5V to any of its I/O pins will damage the SAM3X chip. Ensure all your sensors and shields are 3.3V compatible or use logic level converters.
